Did you know that an infant's skin does not develop a barrier to environmental toxins for 2-3 years? Most of what we put on our skin gets absorbed by our largest organ (our skin)! Unborn babies and infants are especially vulnerable to these type of chemicals that disrupt hormonal balances because their reproductive systems are still developing.

All items sold by Green Healthy Baby are BPA, Phthalate and PVC free

Why does it matter?

BPA
Bisphenol-A (BPA) found in most commonly used plastic baby bottles (made of polycarbonate, #7), is a synthetic estrogen. Animal studies have linked BPA to a range of cancers, early on-set puberty, obesity, and type-II diabetes. BPA is also found in canned food linings, so whenever possible, choose organic, fresh or frozen!

While we recommend using glass bottles when possible, we realize that plastic is the best option for many Green Healthy Moms. That's why we've offer several BPA Free polypropylene plastic options, the safest plastic.

PVC (polyvinyl chloride) plastic PVC, commonly referred to as vinyl, is one of the most hazardous consumer products due to its toxic additives. These chemicals can evaporate or leach out of PVC which poses large risks to children and consumers (phthalates are also usually added to PVC to make it softer).

Phthalates Phthalates are a class of chemicals that can be found in everything from most conventional personal care products (lotions, shampoos, and even nail polish) to plastics like PVC. Phthalates work to soften plastic and to retain scents and act as hormone-disruptors. It is often hard to know if they are used in a certain product as it can be hidden in the ingredients as "fragrance". Phthalates have been linked to a range of adverse effects, including reproductive abnormalities, allergies, early on-set puberty, abdominal obesity and insulin resistance.

**Carcinogens in Baby Shampoo! An alarming new report that found that many children's bath products contain chemicals that may cause cancer and skin allergies. (Click here to read USA Today article on the report)
